SEPT 7–11: KENNEDY CENTER RETREAT & PERFORMANCE

Catch De and all of the Citizen Artist Fellows as they return to the Kennedy Center September 7-11. After days of professional development and coaching with Yo-Yo Ma and KenCen staff, fellows will cap the weekend showcasing their performance and artistic expertise. They’ll even take an evening visit to the new Smithsonian National Museum of African-American History and Culture (which collected the mirror casket in 2016).

About the Performance

“Can I Get a Witness?”
September 9 (6:00–7:00 pm)
Kennedy Center, Millennium Stage
Watch It Live Sept 9

Not quite church. Not quite songs. However, these “spoken word meets traditional Indian vocals meets violin meets performance art” collaborations will bring together the talents four Citizen Artists to hold a mirror up to world around them. An interdisciplinary Mixtape of the Resistance performed live on stage. Followed by an audience discussion hosted by the artists.
